The race diary includes all the events Hardley Runners are likely to enter and some social ones as well. We try to update it about once a fortnight. Here's the latest race diary which was added on 3 February.
The Nationals are on 25 February at Parliament Hill. The event is a great spectacles and you don't have to be fast to enter. There will be a free Hardley minibus so the only cost is the entry fee of about £6. The Nationals are the day before the Terminator which makes a useful back to back session. Contact Ian Banks (see Contact Us tab) if you'd like to come.
We need your support to get a team for this HRRL race. It is a bit of an awkward journey so the club will pay the cost of the ferry crossing for two cars. As at 16 January we still need a couple of men and women to enter to ensure we have teams. Please sign up and support our club. Here's the entry form. Entry closes 28th January. Entry on the day is allowed. Please let our Road Race Captain, Tiff, know if you enter (see Contact us tab). There's more information on the Ryde Harriers website
WE still need a couple more men and ladies to make sure we have teams for this race. Please enter and support our club. But if you are looking for a pre-London race then this is a good one. Entries close 30 January and there are no entries on the day. Here's the entry form. Please let our Road Race Captain, Tiff, know if you enter (see Contact us tab).
The next CC6 is organised by our Totton friends. As usual the race starts at 9.30. Details are on the CC6 website ((see Links tab above).
Another HRRL race so please enter and be part of our team. Here's the entry form.
Our Committee has decided to maximise entries for this season's club championships by making it a popular race at a popular distance. Step forward the Eastleigh 10K which is a Hants Road Race League race. A fast flat course so you should get a good time (mind you so will everyone else!). Enties are now open - details here.
This series of six Friday evening races is highly recommended. It is an easy out and back course for runners of all standards. Afterwards there is an opportunity for socialising with runners from Hardley and other clubs. The course along the front is well lit and running at night by the sea is great. If you are a beginner this would be a good first race. The dates are Friday 14 Oct, 25 Nov, 16 Dec, 20 Jan, 3 Feb and 2 Mar. Registration is in 'Coasters' just west of Boscombe Pier. More information here.
The Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL) is an annual series of road races for all runners from participating clubs in the County. We field two men's teams (four per team) and two ladies' teams (three per team). Club members who take part in the events are automatically members of the teams if they finish high enough up the field. For some of the events where we are not well represented you may find you are in the team just by turning up!
There are two main series of events where we field teams - see below. In addition we field teams at the Southern Championships on 28 January at Stanmer Park, Brighton and the Nationals on 25 February which are at Parliament Hill this time, an experience not to be missed. If you'd like to enter either of these events (runners of all standards welcome - you don't have to be fast to enjoy the experience) please contact our Cross Country Captain Ian Banks. There will be lift shares from Applemore for the Hampshire League and a free minibus for the Southerns and the Nationals. Please contact Ian Banks (see contact us page) to find out more.
These events are held all over the County. There is a league plus the Hampshire Championships. The good news is that the league events are free provided you are an EA member. Here are details of fixtures for the 2011/12 season.
CC6 is a friendly cross country league organised by local clubs. Races are great fun and free for members to enter. They take place once a month on Sunday mornings, between November and March. Distances are between 4 and 5 miles and have similar locations to those in the RR10. Club CC6 captains Dave and Jenny Jewell are keen to get as big a turnout as possible. Here is the provisional fixture list for the 2011/12 season. Please note the dates. You can find out more about this excellent series of races by visiting the CC6 website (see links page).
This is a free weekly time trial at Lakeside Country Park, Eastleigh. All you have to do is register in advance and turn up any Saturday morning at 9am. There's no charge. Sounds like an excellent way of getting in a quick workout and monitoring your fitness. For full details please click here.
RR10s are by far the most popular events with our members.
The RR10 league is a series of races organised by running clubs in south-west Hampshire for their members. The races are held on Wednesday evenings during the spring and summer. Entry is free. All of the races are 4-5 miles off-road. The standard of runners varies from 5-minute milers to 12+ minute milers so, however fast you are, there will always be someone to compete with or just enjoy a run together if that's what you prefer. The only requirement is to wear a Hardley vest on the night and there are usually some for sale at the race for a tenner, so please do give the series a try. There is usually a lift share from the Applemore car park.
Details of the 2012 series will be published here when they become available.
