The Solent Half is our half marathon held in the Autumn. It is a friendly race with up to 500 entries and a lovely course winding through the New Forest around Exbury and along the Solent shore at Lepe.
Feedback was so good from the 2014 race that we've decided to do it again. The format will be similar to last year. The entry fee is £18 (£20 for unaffiliated runners).
Here's some background information about the race.
What a lovely day for a run. Thanks very much to all the marshals and helpers who made it possible.
Feedback has been good but we had a complaint from a motorist about people who discarded the litter from their energy drinks and gels. If you have to drop litter please do it at a water station or a mile marker so we can clear it up.
Here's an album of low resolution versions of a small selection of the pictures taken by Charles Whitton Photography.

A sincere thanks to everyone who helped to make yesterday’s Solent Half Marathon a great success. As well as contributing to the local running scene with over 440 entries we will also be able to make donations to local charities.
This year we were very fortunate with the weather which helped to make the race more of a community and social event. A bonus was Tiff’s cake stall which raised £124.84 so thank you to all the ladies and men who made such splendid cakes. Even the WI ladies couldn't match that standard of baking!
There were around 50 children taking part in the junior event, potentially the future generation of Hardley Runners.
As Judy has already said, many thanks to all our marshals, car parking teams, drinks station helpers and those who transported equipment, erected signs and gazebos etc.
A special thanks to Angie Simmonds and Guides, Paul Blundells's parents, Beaulieu School, Honeypot, the Gang Warily team, Fullon Sport, Race New Forest, Balmer Lawn Honda and Pam's massage team.
Finally thank you to those that were not able to come along but still made cakes for the occasion and those who found time to make signs for the main hall.
This year we are pleased to say there were no runners seen wearing headphones!
There was one running couple that had travelled from Nottingham rather than run their local Half Marathon "as the Solent was a smaller friendlier event, with a picturesque route"!
Yesterday was another successful Solent Half which would not happen without everyone's contribution.
Thank you all.

Thank you for your feedback during the race. Here are some comments made afterwards

In short: My favourite race in the South
In full: I am always amazed why more people don't enter this race as its a fantastic half with amazing scenery. The course is mostly flat with some undulating bits, but nothing to strike fear into you, in fact, its what makes it a great race. All on country roads (which make it quick), through the open new forest, through tree lined shadey bits (near exbury gardens), past the coast, and back through hedged country roads to the finish. Well worth entering. I've done it 4 times and cant get bored of it. I got my PB last year.
I just wanted to thank you and your team for organising such a fantastic race yesterday. Although we can barely walk today without grimacing and oohing - we really had a great day yesterday and fully understand these races are a lot of hard work and effort.
Thank you very much.
