HRRL Captain, Simon Ibbotson, reports,
Sunday 6th Feb saw the 7th race of the HRRL season - the Ryde 10 mile. It made for a fun day out on the island, as usual. The weather was pretty bad early on but it cheered up for the race and was dry and sunny for the start.
I'm not going to pretend it is a flat course but the hills are nicely spaced allowing for recovery between them. There's also some really nice scenery and views across the Solent. I really recommend giving this race a go if you haven't before.
Six of us started and unfortunately only 5 finished, as Dan Latham pulled out half way with a hamstring issue. Callum Johnson was our first male back in a chip time of 1:08:07 and Poppy Tanner was our only female, chip time 1:10:24.
Callum Johnson, Callum Tanner, Matt Tanner and myself made up our men's team and unfortunately we didn't have a ladies team. Overall our men's and ladies' teams are now 4th in division 2.
I hope you can make the next HRRL race which will be the Salisbury 10 mile on the 3rd April.
