Calling all members - please help

We need your help to make the race another big success. Please volunteer and help repay the huge debt we owe to all the volunteers who marshal other races.

Race Director, Hardley's own Martin Loveless writes,

"Hi All,

Hardley Runners are once again hosting the Exbury Gardens 10k race and once again it has proved extremely popular with the race looking likely to sell out within the next few days.

Thank you for everybody who has helped out with the last 2 races and once again we are looking for members to turn out to help on the day.

After last years race we got really good feedback via Runners World about how friendly and keen the marshals were on the course and we need to repeat that process this year, especially considering that the vast majority of runners who have entered the race are not club runners and for many this will be their first ever 10k race, so we do need you on the course ensuring those runners have a safe and enjoyable day.

The race starts at 09.30 on Sunday 14th March so, for the majority, your services would only be required between 9 and 11am, after which you will be free to explore the gardens which have some wonderful spring colours. For those marshals who do not have a race number (which gives free entry) we have arranged for you to be able to get into the gardens half price.

Please get back to me to let me know your availability, even if you have already verbally told me, so that I can confirm that the race can go ahead. If you do have 'adult' family or friends who could help out then I am more than happy to accommodate them within the 'non-road' portions of the race.

For the last 2 years we have ended up having to go outside of the club to recruit volunteers due to the low-level of response we have from within the club with around a quarter of the marshals not being club members - it would be really good if for this year we could recruit sufficient volunteers as it does only need around 50 members to say yes from our membership of close to 200.

Final details for marshals will be sent out about a week before the run
